Hello.
My name is Everitt Mickey and I'm a recovering TruckDriver.
(this is my shocked face)
It's true. Damn near forty years ago in a little town named Utapeao. In the republic of Thailand I slid behind the wheel of an eighteen wheeler. The fact that I was hauling bombs to the flightline for B-52's was irrelevant. The important part was that I took that first drive...that first dose.
I was hooked on the first drive ...that first dose.
Driving a truck is an addiction.
For the next forty years, off and on, (more on than off...I tried to stop, honest, but I couldn't ), I drove almost four million miles. I've driven across every foot of the interstate system in the contiguous forty eight and I've also driven in Canada and Mexico.
I've driven Freightliners, Internationals, Volvos, PeterBilts and Kenworths. I've pulled Vans, Stepdecks, Flatbeds, Double Drops , Trombones, Beams. and exotic heavy-haul. I've run under as FEW as five axles and as many as thirteen. That's axles...NOT wheels. (multiply by four then subtract two for the number of wheels I was turning)
Never had a serious ticket, (they were all 'gotcha', betcha didn't know that was a violation did you? You do now. Now hand over some money)....trucking is a cash cow for all the villages, cities, counties, states and the feds. (permit, license, registration etc.)
Never been involved in a serious wreck (no one was injured, no vehicle had to be towed they were mostly fenderbenders where someone hit ME while I was stopped.)
For forty years, perfect MVR.
....and I'm done
I'm done.
Too damn many regulations, too many rules, too many laws, too damn many GOTCHA tickets, fines, fees, permits and registrations. Can't make a living.
