My Master and the Past

I.

With outstretched arms
It reaches now to grab me
By the foot and hold
Me back from ever being
Worth a second look.
It tugs at my heart’s own
Passions and tingles up
And down my skin.
Paralyzing progresses’ pull
And robbing me of becoming
A truly honorable man.

II.

But then with a blinding
Light of a pure sun’s strength,
He comes to make anew.
He trims this fat and
Refined my gold
So that now I may escape
This cruel master’s grasp.
From hell I came and to
Heaven I am bound,
From now until the end.
