Flashes of Honesty

Were we married too young?
Did our grass never come in?
Old age begets wisdom so
Why did we choose when we were children?

I have loved you till I stopped
And I even tried after that.
But I cannot help to remember
What it felt like to have a new pair of shoes,

The kind that still need to be worked in,
The smell of fresh rubber waiting
For thousand mile treks-
Untethered, unbridled, undone.

Were we married too young?
