I've had the same issue. I'm sure they provide a good service when there is actual crypto mining but they also come after new users who are just learning the ropes and wanting to contribute to the community

Yes it's like the NaNoWriMo (Novel Writing) where you can create any story. You can do any length of podcast on any topic. My podcasts are usually only 1-3minutes, others are running ones up to an hour.

To each their own - it interacts with your google drive because it allows you to access and save to it through the platform as well as allowing you to add/remove and sync tasks to your google calendar.
