Oman
I was going through my holiday photos again and came across our Oman holiday.
To be precise, we were in Muscat, the capital of Oman. There is a large Sultan Quabus mosque that we visited.
Even though it was 50 degrees in the shade that day, long trousers are a must, even for men.
The mosque is not quite in the centre of Muscat, but not far away either.
In the mosque itself, of course, you were not allowed to wear shoes. Obviously, I had forgotten to put them back on.
I have the impression that all magnificent religious buildings need a dome. Here, too, there is a huge dome in the middle with a candelabra. I remember standing under it and it seemed so huge. It doesn't come across that way in the pictures.
This is the room to pray. As a tourist, you were only allowed to walk on the segregated paths.
At that time I was really jealous of the Dishdasha, the cloak the men wear there. In the heat there, 50 degrees, it's probably much more comfortable than my long trousers. But unfortunately it doesn't really suit me.
This is the place where you have to clean your feet before entering the mosque.

Ich bin jetzt mal wieder meine Urlaubsfotos durchgegangen und bin auf unseren Oman Urlaub gestoßen.
Genauer gesagt, waren wir in Muscat, der Hauptstadt vom Oman. Dort ist eine große Sultan Quabus Moschee die wir besucht haben.
Auch wenn es an diesem Tag 50 Grad im Schatten hatte, ist eine lange Hose auch für Männer Pflicht.
Die Moschee liegt nicht ganz im Zentrum von Muscat, aber auch nicht weit weg.
In der Moschee selbst, durfte man natürlich keine Schuhe tragen. Offensichtlich hatte ich dann vergessen, diese wieder anzuziehen.
Ich habe den Eindruck, dass alle religiösen Prachtbauten eine Kuppel benötigen. Auch hier ist in der Mitte eine riesige Kuppel mit einem Leuchter. Ich weiß noch, wie ich unter ihm Stand und er mir so riesig vorkam. Das kommt auf den Bildern nicht mehr so rüber.
Das ist der Saal zum Beeten. Man durfte als Tourist nur auf den abgetrennten Wegen gehen.
Damals war ich echt etwas neidisch auf den Dishdasha, der Umhang den dort die Männer tragen. Bei der Hitze dort, 50 Grad, ist das wohl wesentlich angenehmer als meine lange Hose. Aber leider steht er mir nicht wirklich.
Das hier ist der Platz, an dem man seine Füsse reinigen muss, bevor man die Moschee betritt.
