What is Socialization?
This is a format of acquireing knowledge, ideas,behavuour in order to conform the norms,roles,cultural heritage for the integration into a group of society.
Its also a way of life were by a person from birth is tought the norms and tradition of his /her people aiding to an ultimate aim of understanding. There are two type of socialization, primary and secondary socialization.
- Primary Socialization: this take place from birth trough adoliscence and it is cultured by peer, caeegivers, educators etc.
- Secondary Socualization: these type of socialization occurs trough out your life time especially when u learn new things.
Socialization on its on cant stop it keep happening just as the world is changing but to some extwnt socialization has to be controlled.
SOCIAL CONTROL.
This refers to the many ways to which our norms, tradition, law,and social order is being controlled for society couls notexist without social control. It could be achieved trough norms, law , economic development, societal activities etc. Its been stated that there is no society without societal control, or else it would bring about caos. There are two type of social control which is Informal and Formal control. - Informal control:
This refers to the fhe way people confirm to the norms, social activity which we learn from Socialization. - Formal control:
Fhis type of control is enforced by the government to control and guidethe people like police, military etc. They are based on societal security, tax payment etc.
RESOCIALIZATION.
This is a process wereby one has to learn new norms, values and practice that shapes them to another social role. Occurs when you change a job or trevel to another country, and you have to learn a new eating habit,or even becoming a parent.
Advantages of socialization with example.
Advantage:
- It creates understanding between peer.
- Makes it easy to communicate.
- Could even lead to job opportunities(when you know how to speak other languages).
Disadvantages:
1.peer presure.
2.low context culture
3.sex
