I was doing some research when I was trying to complete a forged piece for a film production. The piece was mild steel, and filming was only for a couple weeks. I needed to make it look old and wonderful. And I found this metal wax, which doesn't have any metal in it. And I think it's petroleum based. They say to resurface it with the metal wax every so often. Not sure how much it protects long-term against rust. But it sure makes things look cool.
Unfortunately, I can't share that piece that I originally bought the black metal wax for as it's not my proprietary!
However, I do look forward and experimenting with this metal wax. Hoping to find time to do a few test pieces and leave them in the sun and the elements.
