The other day I was considering blogging about Elon Musk but decided to keep it for another day. That just changed as I read over the Master Plan, Part Deux (https://www.tesla.com/en_AU/blog/master-plan-part-deux?redirect=no)
Now, I believe that even though Elon Musk is a lot more known now he still does not receive the recognition he should. He has done so much in a short amount of time and will continue to do so. What really is amazing about Musk is that what he does isn't just for profit, he focuses on his making humanity and the world better. I don't know if its just because I live in a rather small country (New Zealand) but a lot of people still do not know about Elon Musk or if they do, they only know him for Tesla. Even Tesla is more than just an electric car company, the gigafactory (will make 500k batteries each year) is near opening and eventually the autonomous feature will be 10x that of manual operating the vehicle.
What I am getting at it more people know the name Steve Jobs over Elon Musk, I'm not saying Steve Jobs hasn't done any good as I am currently writing this from my macbook but Elon Musk has done things on a more global basis and is of a new breed of entrepreneur, one that also considers environmental impacts. It annoys me how celebrities are put on such a high pedestal and are household names around the world but people like Elon Musk might be heard about now and then unless you are 'in the know'.
Another thing that frustrates me is the other day someone said to me, "Hey! Did you hear about Tesla's car crashing?" I mean yes I did but out of everything Tesla has done and is doing you want to focus on the fact that there's been a couple of problems with the autonomous feature? It is still advertised as beta but still is so much safer than the average driver. People always seem to focus on the negative. I have never had someone (yet) come up to me and talk about SpaceX sending people to mars, the Hyperloop or OpenAI unless they are heavily interested in technology and entrepreneurship .
Anyway, I hope that within the near future we can talk more about people who are actually working to change the world rather than what happened with Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian.
