My little son calls this place the " Park of the great ones", I imagine that he relates the place with the amount of people that we always find here and the "Plaza las Heroínas" is one of the most popular places in Mérida, I had already told you about the tourist importance of the surroundings of this area, but I had pending, to tell you about the square and in my previous visit it was under maintenance, but a few days ago we took our son back to the park and we were able to enjoy the beauty of this place completely.

Mi pequeño hijo, llama este lugar, el "Parque de los grandes", imagino que él relaciona el sitio, con la cantidad de personas que siempre encontramos aquí y es que la "Plaza las Heroínas" es uno de los sitios más populares de Mérida, ya les había comentado la importancia turística de los alrededores de esta zona, pero tenía pendiente, hablarles de la plaza y es que en mi anterior visita estaba de mantenimiento, pero hace unos días llevamos a nuestro hijo de nuevo al parque y logramos disfrutar de la belleza de este lugar completamente.

After visiting a few places in downtown Merida, we headed to Plaza las Heroínas, which is located on Av. 8 at the end of Calle 24 and 25, in downtown Merida, in front of the Barinitas Station of the Mukumbary Cable Car, very close to our bus stop to go home. Después de visitar algunos sitios en el Centro de Mérida, nos dirigimos a La Plaza las Heroínas, la cual queda ubicada en la Av. 8 al final de la Calle 24 y 25, del Centro de la Ciudad de Mérida, al frente de la Estación Barinitas del Teleférico Mukumbary, muy cerca de nuestra parada de autobús para regresar a casa. Por eso, cuando queremos llevar a nuestro niño al parque, nuestra última parada es este maravilloso lugar, al que nos encantaría venir más seguido.

Every experience in this place is different and satisfying, I really like to find the boulevard near the square with a new decoration every time, but this time, we found more than that, it turns out that on the sidewalk they have placed two stars in granite, with golden letters, one in tribute to a well known Merida cyclist named Jose Rujano and the other in honor of Johan Santana a Merideño who has earned all the merit for being a member of the big leagues of baseball. I like this idea of paying tribute to talented people in this way and I wonder who will be the next star.

Cada experiencia en este sitio es diferente y satisfactoria, me gusta mucho encontrar el bulevar cercano a la plaza con una nueva decoración cada vez, pero esta vez, encontramos más que eso, resulta que en la acera han colocado dos estrellas en granito, con letras doradas, una en homenaje a un ciclista merideño muy reconocido llamado Jose Rujano y la otra en Honor a Johan Santana un Merideño que se ha ganado todo el mérito por ser miembro de las grandes ligas del beisbol. The design of this square, seems to me very attractive, in addition it is in very good condition, here we find two environments, in the first environment, is formed by a beautiful circular fountain, which at that time was off, here we find the sculpture of those women heroines, to whom this square pays tribute. According to the information found in the same place, these are five women from Merida who helped the Liberator during the war of independence.

It is a bronze sculpture, where one of them is playing the drum, and the others accompany them, four of them are standing and one is seated. The sculpture is a great work of art, supported on a circular pedestal covered in clay slabs, with the names of them in bronze: Maria Rosario, Anastasia, Isabel, Simona and Maria.

Around the sculpture we have the fountain, which when lit enhances the beauty of this beautiful work. Around it we have concrete benches and planters, to enjoy a quiet moment, in the midst of the freshness that gives us its trees.

El diseño de esta plaza, me parece muy atractivo, además está en muy buen estado, aquí encontramos dos ambientes, en el primer ambiente, está formado por una fuente circular preciosa, que en ese momento se encontraba apagada, aquí encontramos la escultura de esas mujeres heroínas, a quien rinde homenaje esta plaza. Según la información que se encuentra en el mismo lugar, se trata de cinco mujeres merideñas que ayudaron al Libertador durante la guerra de independencia.

Se trata de una escultura en bronce, donde una de ellas se encuentra tocando tambor, y las demás las acompañan, cuatro de ellas están de pie y una sentada. La escultura es una gran obra de arte, apoyada sobre un pedestal circular cubierto en tablas de arcilla, con los nombres de ellas en bronce: María Rosario, Anastasia, Isabel, Simona y María

Alrededor de la escultura tenemos la fuente, que cuando se enciende realza la belleza de esta bonita obra. Alrededor tenemos bancas de concretos y jardineras, para disfrutar un rato tranquilo, en medio de la frescura que nos da sus árboles.

All around the square we find different stalls selling handicrafts, souvenirs, toys, coats and different fast food stalls, ice cream and the famous cakes of the Plaza de las Heroínas, a real delight. These stalls were built recently, have a metallic structure and a curved roof, maintaining the same style of the roof of the Barinitas station. Before its construction, the sale of handicrafts was inside the square, I love that each entrepreneur was assigned a stand, to offer their products in a more comfortable way, this way the atmosphere of the square is much more harmonious and improved one hundred percent the circulation of people.

En todo el alrededor de la plaza encontramos distintos puestos de ventas de artesanías, recuerdos, juguetes, abrigos y distintos puestos de comida rápida, helados y las famosas tortas de la plaza de las heroínas, una verdadera delicia. Estos puestos fueron construidos hace poco, tienen una estructura metálica y su techo es curvo, mantiene el mismo estilo del techo de la estación Barinitas. Antes de su construcción, la venta de las artesanías se encontraba dentro de la plaza, me encanta que a cada emprendedor le asignaran un puesto, para que ofrezcan sus productos de una forma más cómoda, de esta forma el ambiente de la plaza es mucho más armónico y mejoro al cien por ciento la circulación de las personas.
