I was deeply skeptical of Steemit... or at least its ability to endure, in any form. The money didn't even seem "real,"... UNTIL I took out enough that we bought a much needed set of new tires

My idealistic self is disappointed, for sure... but yes, this will probably always be a niche social venue. Still, even back in 2005, social blogging sites like Xanga had as many as 30 million active blogs...

Yes, it's funny how time tends to reverse the situation... and what we thought adults were "silly" for thinking back then has now become fact for us!

Oh, I know there are quite a few groups doing the newcomer welcome thing... of course most are (understandably) bot messages, which people are mostly trained to ignore. I'm more thinking along the lines

I keep telling myself that I should be more active in some of the weekly group events, but I run into precisely that feeling that I don't want Hive to start feeling like a job. It isn't. For me, this is

Ironically, even though Hive is a social content plantform, the idea of social media where people actually engage and are social with each other (beyond the stereotypical "nice pic!" comment)

I had this strange idea that you would suddenly reappear on the anniversary of when you went walkabout... I hope you are well and happy! ❤️

It's a strange and possibly vicious cycle: the more humanity has strived for this thing called "civilization," the more we have reinvented ourselves as a Human Have-ings rather than Human Be-ings.

That's awesome @lynds and congratulations on the upgrade to "farmer!" Looks like you have a lovely spread there. Crows are cool birds, but they are mondo destructive to some crops. Our former

I like Harbor Freight, for the most part... I'd describe myself as a bit of a "convert" from thinking of them as a seller of "cheap Chinese crap." For your basic run-of-the-mill stuff,

Pretty successful rescue mission, all in all... the beach was not the right place for him. He probably flew across the water from Diamond Point and was happy not to drown...

I remember that alien artifact! I think it was somewhere like Nebraska or South Dakota.

In principle, I'm in alignment with that. There are nuances, of course. I write a lot of "long content" and as part of that I realize that I periodically write about something I wrote about in

We're growing more and more of our own food, and we have a huge freezer in the garage and buy bulk whenever something is "on special." Not so long ago, we decided to forego garbage and recycling

Cool! You actually got some of the "sparkly bits" in the photo!

There has been a real disconnect between real income growth and the growth of the real cost of living in the US, for decades. We're certainly part of that 70%... a large part of the problem remains

Brilliant pictures! I never heard that myth, at least not growing up in Denmark... I remember them mostly being treated as beneficial creatures because they would eat mites and other tiny pests.

I'm just glad to see actual commerce being developed here, aside from just "make money trading tokens!" It's a great use case... I might get involved with selling my (physical) artwork.

Consumerism and materialism strike me as ultimately very destructive... growing up in Denmark and now living in the US has really underscored the differences between a "me" and a "we"

Since we are entering the realm of speculation, perhaps angels - being the powerful entities that they are - don't actually "sing" in the sense we understand it, but instead project song directly
