RE: America's Health Plan: Don't Get Sick!
I agree entirely. Politicians in the US are notoriously short-sighted and don't really grasp the concept that if we fund a healthier populace, there will be less losss of productivity because people won't

Same for my relatives back in Denmark. They pay a "paperwork fee" of about 4€ for an office visit, and everything else is paid for.

Thanks, appreciate it! It's ironic that the US not only is the wealthiest nation on the planet, but also the only industrialized nation not to have universal healthcare for its citizens...

RE: Reflections on a Weekend... and Exhaustion
Celebrate your naps! I think we often fight it because we've been told that "9-to-5 is when we work," regardless of whether or not that suits us.

RE: Reflections on a Weekend... and Exhaustion
Sometimes paperwork is actually worse because it is far more scattered than the routine of something like weeding or mowing the grass.

I've been trying to educate myself on this whole tiredness thing, and we ultimately can thank the Industrial Revolution for many of our woes... because suddenly we were forced into a "one schedule

RE: Today Was Garbage Day!
We now save our stuff that has to be burned for winter, and only burn it (slowly) in our patio metal fire pit... which "sort of" gets around the ban on "uncontrolled" fires.

I'm just glad nobody has noticed that this house hasn't had trash pickup for about 12 years! We have a 60 foot long mound where all the yard waste ends up. At any given time, only about 15 feet is active,

You make a good point! We very much try to be mindful of our waste, and make the actual trash part of it as small as possible... and that begins with looking at the containers of many of the things we

Oh, I'm sure Venezuela is it's own special brand of circus-mongering... and no matter where we might be, the puppet masters are working towards that whole "you will own NOTHING, and you will LIKE

What I find really ironic is the way "the land of the free" has actually become less free than the Danish "social democracy" in which I was raised. It may have higher taxes, but you

RE: The Burning Question for September 3rd, 2025! Do You Have HOPE for the Future?
I'm pretty much right there, too. The world (or at least the USA) is pretty much fucked beyond repair. I fear living has pretty much gotten to the point where the only prudent approach is to try to skatebelow

I get that. One of my hopes is that enough people choose to simply step outside the ostensible "matrix," rather than either fighting against it, or allowing themselves to be absorbed by it. Usually

Thank you! I guess that's what we do... redefine terms, as we go. I definitely don't feel "old," but I know that I'm aging because the recovery time after undertaking something strenuous is much

Hah! Reminds me of when I left home and finally had he freedom to develop a voice and opinion of my own... and being served up with the "You used to be so NICE!" commentary. Right. Nice means
