My school of thought is that if this Sichen Dong is only offering $1.00 worth of Hive to complete his survey, why chance losing everything in your account?

I would say that as long as you evaluate the transaction, the risk is trivial. If you know that you're just signing a simple message with your crypto keys, that is not an attack vector. If it was, Hive and crypto as a whole wouldn't work. We take greater risks with our lives every day that we choose to get in a car or on a motorcycle. It is knowing and understanding the risk that allows us to make such decisions with confidence.

Informed and experienced users, those who know and understand the nature of handling crypto keys and transactions, will be able to navigate such scenarios easily, and it is a great benefit of Hive to be able to browse safely without the risk of your money being lost (in a way that is possible with credit card details and personal information for banking credentials).
