Here is the basic map of my house showing the major elements (house footprint, existing trees, orientation etc.) comprising the site. This site is 0.18 acres in area and is located in USDA Hardiness Zone 7a-7b with a Northern latitude of 33.57°.
Through this blog I would like to document the transition of this standard home site into a permaculture home site that seeks to fulfill the following desires:
1. Provide side income through the growing and selling of greens and herbs to local markets and restaurants.
2. Provide food and climate control for the house and the family (i.e. shade! It's hot out here for 6 straight months)
3. Capture all grey water for irrigation purposes.
With that said I will post pictures and stories that concern only those things that bring me closer to the stated objectives. I hope you all enjoy.
