The local people are very accommodating and appreciative if you respect the land and the traditions of their culture. There are many superstitions that make up a long history of rituals, beliefs and respect to the land and Gods. Amazing.
Hello, as a person in charge of a Facilities department for a large retailer, I get to travel around the country. Several weeks ago I was able to go to Hawaii. I have been there several times. The beauty of the islands are breathtaking. If you have never gone there, look at the off the beaten path area's. The picture above is from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nu%E2%80%98uanu_Pali Pali lookout, and the views are unbelievable, just something you couldn't imagine without being there. The pure beauty of the island is a magnet for me to want to come back and do more exploring. I am going to Maui in November for a 5 year anniversary trip with my wife, son and it is going to be a blast.

On the flip side there is poverty, and area's people still live in hut style homes and fish for their meals. There aren't many middle class citizens.
Surfing is a big local activity, the Hawaiians have been doing it for hundreds, if not thousands of years. One famous Hawaiian, Duke Kahanamoku brought surfing to California and the states and it has taken off to be a great sport.

I would recommend Hawaii for a great location to vacation, Pali Lookout is a must. Get a rental car and explore. See Pearl Harbor, chilling to out to the memorial. There are so many places to see that 7 days will fill up quickly, and add some beautiful beaches to the mix and you will come back relaxed and feeling complete.
