As I've been leveling up my accounts, I've found I really wanted this chart, so I thought I would make one for you. As monsters level up, they gain abilities, and some of these are extremely important - attack for Swamp Thing and Goblin Shaman, Heal for Flesh Golem, Blast for Fire Demon, and so on. Knowing where those abilities come in is very important for deciding how to level up your teams. Since leveling up always begins with your summoner, I've decided to group new abilities by rare summoner level. To keep this from being huge, I'll split it into separate posts by splinter.
Death has a pretty balanced progression, although the complete absence of new abilities at Summoner Level 2 is a bit odd. But it starts off with a reasonably strong set, especially Haunted Spirit's Heal and Twisted Jester's two-attack Snipe, which no other unit has immediately. At Level 3 Haunted Spider gains Poison and Undead Priest learns to attack, which will make them mainstays of the team through the midlevels. At Level 4, haunted Spirit's Magic Reflect and Banshee's Blast are obvious winners, but Spineback Wolf's Thorns are sneaky good as the Death splinter's only reasonable defense against Sneak.
Like many other splinters, we see a big group of new abilities at Level 5. Skeleton Assassin gets Poison, allowing a Death team to work poison from both ends of the opponent's squad. Twisted Jester's Dodge is helpful, as is Undead Priest's Slow, and Shield begins to make Lord of Darkness more useful in his niche. At Level 7 we see some additional improvements, as Haunted Spirit picks up Void to improve its tanking ability, and Lord of Darkness adds Retaliate to finally make it some use at the back.
