Weekends are there to have a break and recharge your body for the week ahead, yet this weekend I am more knackered than ever as I worked yesterday and today. This is not normal and managed to at least get 8 hours sleep last night which seemed like a luxury. If you do not sleep then this will all catch up with you and you will be too tired to think and function properly.
I love my sleep and combined with the cold weather we have been experiencing recently I should have been a bear because hibernating does sound so appealing. The last time I was up pre dawn at 5 am every morning was during the army and this was a shock to the system that one can never get used to as this in my opinion is not normal. Not knowing what is happening next can be quite stressful and why I do not like surprises.
I know the coldest part of the day is sunrise and this week I was reminded that this is still the case and why I do not mind avoiding this. I hate wearing warm clothing as I know later in the day it will be far warmer anyway so it is a case of suck it up buttercup. Our business has changed for the short term and you do what you have to do by adapting to the demands or suffer the consequences. This is a bit rough on everyone, but more importantly together we will get through this and come out the other end far stronger.
One can never say work is boring as one of the days we were in court at 7.30 am blocking the people we have been fighting and blindsided them. This they never expected and we have learned to read the room doing what has to be done staying one or two steps ahead learning how dirty business is.
I think like everyone you like some stability in your life so you have an idea of what the next week involves yet we are not there yet and cannot wait for things to quieten down and become more normal because a normal boring is actually quite pleasant. Many complain about the normal boring, but I can assure you do not wish for something else as things could be far worse.
Tomorrow I am up at 5am again and I would guess Tuesday as well which also leaves the trip to Durban to attend a funeral in doubt. This would mean giving up one work day being Friday, but actually if we are working Saturday that would be two days that I cannot abandon. A 5 hour drive each way thrown into this hectic schedule would leave me too tired to function and I am no longer in my twenties. I have driven this trip many times and have even done it with a two hour turn around , but I have never been this tired before.
It is amazing what the human body is capable of when challenged with adverse situations and the hope is we are through the worst and things will start to normalize. Legal battles are never fun even though we have won both court cases and we are still fighting waiting for the process to finalise whenever that might be. This is fighting for what is right and there is no thought of giving in due to costs as what is the point otherwise. The struggle goes on and if this is the rest of the year or a few more months then so be it.
