I had the epidural injection and it does help even though it sounds scary. Forget what you have heard from others about the chiro as those people do not have a serious back issue like you do. This is not going to be fixed over night and your back needs to settle as your muscles are contracting protecting the damaged area. I have lived with a prolapsed disc that collapsed towards the spine which is rare and why it is basically untreatable. The chiro resets my back roughly every 6 months and it make take two visits to reset and is not painful. Just tell him or her all the information so they can help you and forget what others tell you about the chiro because their conditions are not the same as yours and this is serious. You can buy a back support brace which keeps you rigid and allows you to carry on life as normal like tenpin and other sports and is hidden under your shirt. This is temporary until the back settles. Mine took roughly 6 months before I carried on as normal except for the odd check up with the chiro when you feel your back needs help. Look in the mirror and check your posture if you are leaning to one side and you will know you need a reset. I have had it done so often I can do it myself these days, but still go to the chiro as he will become your best friend.

Just to add for the epidural you normally have a local anesthetic so you do not move around for the procedure so you will be knocked out for a short while.
