It is not fair when we make promises and we are not able to keep them especially when it is towards children. We shouldn't be too quick to make promises because nobody is certain of what tomorrow holds. We may sincerely want to fulfill the promise we make two people but it may end up not working out due to some unforeseen circumstances.
Making promises is a very serious matter. When we raise up the expectations of the people we promise and if eventually we don't stick to our word we will end up leaving the person disappointed. A child may look up to the parents with high expectations but it is not wrong as a parent to let the children know that you are capable of falling short in some areas.
Instead of making promises it is much better to make it into a surprise. That way even if we don't end up doing what to intended it will still be fine. What really matters the most is that we are able to make the person happy. If we should make a promise to a child it will lead to the child being full of excitement and expectations.
It will be so sad if at the end of the day the promise does not come to fulfillment. If at all we make promises we should make sure that it is something we are very sure of keeping to the children
