I find it somewhat daunting to think of all the information about me that has been and is being gathered by businesses and spooks alike. And, although your series is focused on metadata, I personally consider it to be a virtual certainty that all of my electronic communications are being squirreled away by the nefarious alphabet agencies against some possible future day when, for whatever specious reason, "they" wish to leverage my own words and actions against me.

According to this article from a decade ago, at least some content is being recorded and archived for some period of time... And I turned that article up with a casual internet search; I'm sure there is abundantly more evidence available.

The state is well known to be a liar in innumerable past instances that have come to light. Lie, lie, lie...

Even now (as revealed in part in my recent article), ongoing and devastating state lies about the covid debacle, masks, and experimental vaccines are coming to light.

And as I have not docilely complied with many of its mandates, the likelihood that the entire content of my telephone calls, emails, and etc., is in the state's dirty little hands nears unity.

State motives are pretty clear; it must maintain its monopoly on violence and theft, and gathering and maintaining "incriminating" information is key to those ends.
