RE: Snaps Container // 4/23/2026, 11:24:00 AM
Got out to the bay in Hoquiam, Wash., before sunrise this morning and caught the Port of Grays Harbor terminals all lit up. Perfect opportunity to practice using the tripod for longer exposures. #photography

Love the owls. The one that's a baby looks like an old man, to me.

RE: THE DOUBLE-SLIT EXPERIMENT? - (PHOTOGRAPHY STORIES)
I absolutely think what happens for you on your photowalks, happens only because you are there. Not crazy at all. It's a perfect vibrational match for your curiosity and passion.

I thought I had read all the horse books, but two comments on this post provide two I haven't heard of! Thank you.

Oh, good to know the Black Stallion made it to Australia! I hadn't heard of Silver Brumby before; it looks to be in the same vein.

Do you remember him? (Haha, just kidding!) That's so cool that he went to your school; I could easily have written a post with Treasure Island as my favorite book.

RE: A Secluded Spot ... and Wildlife
The view from that house probably makes up for the traffic noise. Thanks for the feedback. I decided at the last minute to include the cormorant!

I didn't plan on taking the camera to the river this morning. Far too cold. But the mist was rising off the water and shrouding the far shore ... too beautiful not to get a photo! #photography #pnw Taking

Great shot. And well done getting out in the cold to get it!

Thank you for the feedback, selecting your favorite. I'll look for more minimalist and abstract shots now. Looking down on the tug is almost like touring one. A tour would make a good photo post too at

Good point. Thankfully in my little town we didn't see the worst of covid reactions.

@qwerrie stole my immediate reaction! ... The one that scared me was fight or flee on command, but I guess that's just the military, an extremely normalized psychosis.

Thank you! It's interesting how difficult it can be to get the auto focus to catch those little ones.

In my last photography post, A Bird's-Eye View, I mentioned that we would likely be seeing goslings along the Hoquiam River soon. Monday after Easter I stumbled across the first brood. That new dad is

That's cool you have opossums; I see them rarely here. Racoons all the time, because they eat the cat food on our porch. we should all empathize with all living things.. Absolutely agree! Though it's hard

Thanks for reading. This story doesn't offer much in the way of hope or solution, does it? I was in that kind of mood, I guess.
