Greetings to the entire Lifestyle community. Today I’m joining you here to share another day in my life with you. This time, I want to tell you about the second day of the Music and Art Vacation Program at the Canticum Merú Academy. This Tuesday was especially energetic and full of surprises because, starting very early in the morning, we were getting our whole bodies moving to make the most of the beautiful day, the sunshine, our good friends, the opportunity, and the kids’ eagerness to play. Here’s a little bit about it.
We started the day in the academy’s courtyard, which has a spacious, lush garden full of plants—and most importantly, the chance to enjoy the wonderful morning sun. Everyone found a spot where they could move freely without bumping into their classmates. We did a warm-up to wake up our bodies, bringing each limb to life. So right after that, we danced to the beat of the music, following the choreography I’d prepared for them. The kids tried to follow each movement and repeat it exactly. Of course, the goal of this dance isn’t just to have fun and wake up our bodies, but also to help them coordinate their movements to the rhythm of the music. I really enjoyed it, and so did the kids.
Saludos a toda la comunidad de Lifestyle. El día de hoy me uno por acá para compartir con ustedes un nuevo día en mi vida. Esta vez les quiero contar cómo fue la segunda jornada en el Plan Vacacional Música y Arte en la Academia de Canticum Merú. Este martes estuvo especialmente enérgico y lleno de sorpresas porque desde bien temprano estuvimos dándole movimiento a todo el cuerpo con el fin de aprovechar el buen día, el buen sol, los buenos amigos, la oportunidad y las ganas de jugar de los niños. Aquí les cuento un poco al respecto.
Comenzamos el día en el patio de la academia, dónde hay un amplio jardín, muy verde y lleno de plantas y lo más importante: con la posibilidad de disfrutar del excelente sol de la mañana. Cada uno tomó un espacio para poder moverse libremente sin chocar con el compañero. Hicimos un calentamiento para poder despertar el cuerpo, haciendo que cada extremidad cobrara vida. Así que seguido de eso, bailamos al ritmo de la música y siguiendo la coreografía que había preparado para ellos. Los niños intentaban seguir cada movimiento y repetirlo de forma exacta. Por supuesto, el objetivo de este baile no es solo divertirnos y despertar nuestro cuerpo sino también que ellos puedan coordinar los movimientos al ritmo de la música. Yo lo disfrute bastante y los niños también.
The next activity took place inside the house. Since the vacation plan includes painting, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to talk about primary and secondary colors. To give the children a much clearer visual, I used a resource they usually really enjoy: geometric shapes in primary and secondary colors. Then we moved on to a two-player competition, where each child had to find x geometric shapes of x color, and whoever collected all the pieces would be the winner. This activity was really fun, and some of the younger children found it relaxing and familiar, since this type of activity is often used in preschool.
Today they also finished the sgraffito technique, and here you can see pictures of them holding their artwork. Then we moved on to the music block, where the children made a small piano out of popsicle sticks, construction paper, cardboard, and paint. We took a break to let their projects dry, and after they finished playing on the playground, we went back inside for a relaxation activity. It was another very productive day. La siguiente actividad fue dentro de la casa. Cómo el plan vacacional incluye la pintura, no podía dejar pasar la oportunidad para hablar de los colores primarios y secundarios y para que los niños tuvieran una idea mucho más ilustrativa, utilice un recurso que a los niños les suele gustar mucho: forma geométricas con colores primarios y secundarios. Luego pasamos a la competencia de dos, dónde individualmente debían encontrar x figura geometría de x color y quién consiguiera todas las piezas sería el ganador. Esta actividad fue muy bonita y algunos niños, más pequeños la encontraron relajante y familiar pues suele usarse este tipo de recurso en el nivel de inicial.
Hoy también terminaron la técnica del esgrafiado y allí ven las imágenes de ellos sosteniendo sus trabajos. Luego pasamos al bloque de música donde los niños realizaron un pequeño piano hecho con paletas de helado, cartulina, cartón y pintura. Hicimos un break para dejar secar el trabajo y cuando terminaron de jugar en el patio, volvimos adentro para hacer una actividad de relajación. Fue un día nuevamente bastante fructífero.
