Out and About with My Sisters in Puerto Cabello [ESP/ENG] TBT

Several months ago, my sisters and I shared a wonderful experience when we went on an excursion organized by the church where one of them is an active member. We traveled to the nearby coastal city of Puerto Cabello, where we enjoyed memorable moments that will stay with us forever; we took a brief historical and sightseeing tour, visiting the church and the city's most iconic streets, and even had the chance to witness one of the most important processions—that of Saint John the Baptist—as part of a beautiful cultural event that blends religious and cultural traditions.

Hace varios meses ya, mis hermanas y yo vivimos una muy bonita experiencia al ir juntas en una excursión de la iglesia de la cuál una de ellas es miembro activa, fuimos a la ciudad cercana y costera de Puerto Cabello donde vivimos experiencias grandiosas que por siempre quedarán en nuestra memoria, hicimos un pequeño recorrido histórico y turístico donde visitamos la iglesia y las calles más emblemáticas de la ciudad, incluso tuvimos la oportunidad de ver una de las procesiones más importantes, al de San Juan Bautista, en una actividad cultural preciosa que mezcla lo religioso con lo cultural.

As we wandered through the beautiful, picturesque streets of Puerto Cabello, we saw lovely houses dating back to the colonial era—and some even older; there are even a few with the year of construction inscribed on them, dating back to the 18th or even the 17th century, which lends a special charm to the historic district. I truly fell in love with Puerto Cabello; although I had visited before, I had never had the chance to explore it at my own pace like this.

Once at the church, we witnessed the ceremony honoring Saint John the Baptist and saw cultural expressions by the official brotherhood responsible for the celebration. I liked the participants' colorful costumes and the fact that they carry out the event with affection and faith.

Next, we visited La Chocolatería, a chocolate factory where we learned a great deal—thanks to the explanations provided upon our arrival—about everything related to cacao and its derivatives. We learned that Venezuelan cacao is among the best in the world, meeting the highest quality standards, and has been a highly prized export since colonial times. At the factory, we enjoyed a delicious chocolate tasting and had the opportunity to buy some exquisite bonbons to take home to our families.

And, of course, we couldn't miss visiting the Glass Museum—or *Museo del Cristal*, as it is also known—which houses and displays many significant artifacts from the colonial era, such as cannons, weapons, and other interesting items. (I can't show them to you because I’ve already uploaded those photos to Hive in previous posts, and as you know, Hive doesn't allow re-uploading them.) However, if you have the chance to visit Puerto Cabello, you really should see this museum. Up on the terrace, as you can see, there is a glass floor and a stunning view of the waterfront and the sea, so I struck a pose to capture the moment alongside my country's beautiful flag.
