Thanks @blingit - I've had concerns about property confiscation in the past, but after recent events I've come to believe that if the government ever tried to do something like that en masse they'd be overthrown in a day.

The difference with gold and even crypto for that matter is that only a minority of people hold them, so they can more easily be marginalized.
