I still wanted to keep up with my weekend routine today though. Sunday evening stroll is my thing, rain or shine. So I stepped out like usual around evening time. But Owerri weather had other plans. I hadnāt even walked for 15 minutes before the sky just opened up. Heavy rain, no warning at all. Road started getting watery fast and there was no proper shelter except one small bus stop shed. So I got stuck there.
I stayed under that shed for like 30 minutes just watching the rain pour. Couldnāt go forward, couldnāt go back without being drenched. People were running past with nylon bags on their heads, keke drivers parked up waiting too. I was just thinking āso this is how my cool-off time ends today?ā Pulled my hoodie tighter and waited it out, listening to everyone complaining about Owerri rain š
When it finally calmed down, ground was messy with puddles and mud everywhere. But I still continued my walk. Wet sneakers, dodging splashes from cars, the whole thing. Felt different from my normal Sunday strolls ā slower, colder, but still peaceful in its own way. Thatās how it went. Got delayed by rain for 30 mins, but I still finished my walk. Owerri weather canāt stop the routine completely.
