So this game called Steem Hop on http://steemhop.org is one of those super simple but very addictive games that makes you angry at the same time, you know like Crossy Road style where you have to control this small white chicken with red comb and just keep hopping forward. The gameplay in the video shows exactly how it works, you start at 29 points and you are at Top 93 on the leaderboard, you have 252 coins already collected, and the chicken is trying to cross these crazy obstacles. There is train tracks with purple trains moving fast, then there is a river with black logs floating, then a road with cars, then desert area with rocks and small green trees, you just have to time your hop correctly or else you die instantly and it shows that big STEEM HOP logo on blue screen which means game over.
What makes this game frustrating but fun is how it keeps mixing the obstacles, in the first clip you can see the chicken jumping on logs to cross the water, like those black wooden platforms moving on light blue water, if you miss the timing you fall inside water and you lose, that is what happened in the video where the score went from 31 back to 0. Then in the second part after the game over screen, the map changed to desert with sand color and small stones and the chicken now has to cross roads with red and purple cars, also there is still train track with those red and white barriers, you can see the cars almost hit the chicken multiple times, like that red car that brushed the chicken at 10 seconds and the purple car that killed it at 15 seconds, that STEEM HOP death screen pops again and it is so annoying because you have to start from zero every time.
Another thing I noticed in the video is the controls are very minimal, there is no joystick or anything, you just tap to hop forward and the chicken moves one step, but you have to be very patient and watch the pattern of the cars and logs before jumping, you can see the player was rushing a bit at score 8 when he tried to cross the busy road with both red and purple cars moving and the river logs, he got 253 coins there but died again. The game also has that coin system on top right corner where you collect gold coins with S logo on the tracks and roads, and the top left shows your current score and your best TOP score, in this video TOP is 93 which means the player had reached 93 before, but in this run he kept dying at 0, 1, 2, 3 points in desert level, which shows how hard the desert level is compared to the city level with trains.
Honestly Steem Hop looks like a very basic game but it is one of those games you will open just to play for 2 minutes and end up spending 30 minutes trying to beat your high score, because after every death you feel like you can do better next time. The graphics are low poly and cute with those small trees and rocks and the little chicken character that has that silly walk, and the website http://steemhop.org runs it directly in browser so you don't even need to download, you just play. If you like games like Crossy Road or Hoppy Frog or those endless hopper games, you will definitely enjoy this, but be ready to shout at your phone because the cars and logs will not wait for you and one wrong tap and you are back to zero with that big orange STEEM HOP text mocking you on the screen.
