This Steem Hop leaderboard grind is no joke at all because when you first look at this video you will think its just a silly chicken jumping over cars but when you actually try to push for top 93 on the leaderboard like this guy is doing you will understand how much pain and patience this game requires, you start at -1 with 198 coins already saved up so you know this person has been grinding for a long time already and is not a newbie, and every run starts from that sandy area with the rocks and trees and you have to make that first hop onto the road and already you can get hit by those fast red and purple cars that just don't stop, you can see in the clip how many times he tries to cross and gets smashed immediately and that big STEEM HOP logo comes up and he has to start again from zero, that loop is what kills your morale but also what makes you want to try again.
When you are grinding leaderboard in Steem Hop you are not just playing for fun anymore you are playing like its a competition and every point matters, in this video you can see his score going up from 1 to 2 to 4 then dying, then back to 0, then going up to 2, 7, 9, 10, 13 and then dying again by train, then back to -1 again and back to 1, 2, 4, its literally the story of every grinder you get a good streak and then one small mistake and you are dead, you have to deal with three different obstacles back to back, first the road with cars that have different speeds some are fast some are slow so you have to time it, then the river with the wooden logs that are moving and if you jump too early you fall inside water and die, then the railway with the trains and that man with the stop sign that blocks your way, so you need to constantly switch your brain between car timing and log timing and train timing.
What i noticed in this video is how the coins are also part of the grind, he has 198 coins and then after one good run he moves to 199 so even when he is not beating his top score of 93 he is still farming coins which is important because in Steem Hop you need coins for whatever skins or whatever, and you can see he is not just rushing blindly sometimes he waits, sometimes he does two quick hops, sometimes he stays on a log for extra second to avoid a car, that is the skill that separates top 100 players from casual players, top leaderboard guys know when to be greedy and go for a coin that is sitting between two cars and when to just ignore the coin and just survive, because going for a coin in the middle of traffic is usually what gets you killed like you see in this video most of his deaths are when he tries to cut through fast moving cars to grab something or just move too fast.
Honestly grinding Steem Hop to top 93 is pure mental warfare because the game is so random every single run is different, sometimes the game gives you easy logs that are lined up perfectly and you can just flow through 10 points in 5 seconds, sometimes the game just spawns cars back to back with no gap and you are stuck on the edge waiting for like 3 seconds and then you get impatient and jump and get hit, and this video shows that perfectly he died like 5 times in less than 30 seconds and still kept clicking play again immediately, that is what leaderboard grind is, you die you respawn you die you respawn until you finally get that god run where everything clicks and you go from 0 to 20 to 50 and maybe even beat your top 93, and when you finally see that new high score pop up after hours of dying its the best feeling ever, thats why people keep grinding this simple looking chicken game.
