I swear this SteemHop game on http://steemhop.org has been lowkey taking all my free time these past few days, I just opened it to play for like 2 minutes while waiting for my phone to charge and next thing you know I've been stuck on it for almost an hour trying to beat my high score. The game looks so simple at first, just a small white chicken trying to cross roads and train tracks and rivers with logs, but once you start you will understand that it is actually very annoying and addictive at the same time. In this clip I started from like 2 points and you can see my score at the top left counting up, and I had 225 coins already from previous runs. The orange desert background with those little trees and rocks makes it look chill but the traffic is crazy, red cars and purple cars just flying left and right, plus those trains that will just jam you if you don't time it well.
What made this particular run sweet was how I managed to survive the first section where there is water with logs and then immediately road with cars, you have to calculate the timing very well because if you jump too early you will enter inside water and die, if you wait too long the car will hit you. You can see I was picking up those little gold coins scattered on the road too, my coins moved from 225 to 229, I was trying to get as many as possible because you need them to unlock new characters. The chicken movement is so funny, it just hops forward with that little dice cube following it, and the way it stretches before jumping on the logs, I was holding my breath on that part where the purple train passed, I almost got crushed. My top score was 93 before this run, so I was already determined to break it.
By the time I got to like 12 points going to 28 points, that's where the game started getting intense, because the cars started coming faster and the logs were moving quicker on the water. You can see I started chaining roads back to back, one road then another road then train track, no safe grass to rest, so you must keep moving, one mistake and it's game over. I remember at 20 to 27 points I had to dodge three purple cars at once and then jump on a log immediately, my finger was literally sweating on the screen. The game also has that little map overlay at the bottom from http://steemhop.org which shows your progress, and the music and sound buttons on the side, I always leave sound on because the chicken cluck when it dies is too funny. I kept going and going, crossing those rail tracks with the red-white barriers, up to 35, 42, 45 points, I was already past my old record.
And finally I reached 97 which was new personal best, I actually beat my top 93 and I was so hyped, you can see at the end I stopped because I wanted to clip it with CapCut before I die, so I paused it at 97 points. That run took like 30 seconds but it felt like 5 minutes because of how focused I was, and that's the magic of SteemHop, it looks like a childish chicken crossing game but it will humble you quickly.
