Man this Steem Hop game is one of those stupidly simple games that will just hook you for hours without you even realizing how much time you have wasted, like you open it thinking okay let me just try one run and next thing you know you have been tapping like a mad man for 20 minutes. The concept is basically you are controlling this little white cube bunny thing, it looks so innocent and dumb but it is actually so annoying to control when you are under pressure. You have to cross roads, dodge cars, jump over train tracks and then also jump on those logs floating on the water, and if you miss one tiny timing you are dead and you go straight back to the start screen with that big STEEM HOP logo in your face. That is what happened to me in this clip, I kept dying at the dumbest places.
At first I started okay, I was at like 0 and trying to get my score up, I managed to hop over the first road and dodge that purple car that comes out of nowhere. You see those purple cars and the red ones, they don't stop, they just keep coming and if you stand too long on the road you get smashed. I got to 2, then I messed up because I tried to rush the train crossing and the bunny just got hit by the train, it even shows that little -1 thing like the game is mocking you. Then I respawned again, this time I was a bit more careful, I waited for the cars to pass, I jumped over the train tracks one by one, and I started to actually build a little streak, I got to 8, 9, 10 points and I was feeling myself like okay maybe this is my best run yet.
But then the water part came and that is always where I choke, you have to time your jumps on those brown logs that are moving, and if you land in the water you are done. I got to like 10 and then I fell, so I had to restart again from zero and that is the most frustrating part because you see TOP 33 on the left and you have 222 coins at the top right, so you know you have played this thing a lot but you still keep failing at the same spot. I started again, this time I was more locked in, I got 1, 2, 3, then I started collecting those gold coins that are scattered on the tracks, you need those coins, I went from 222 to 223 to 224, and I kept hopping, I even reached 22 points which for me was actually crazy because I usually die around 10 or 12. I was jumping from log to log over the water, dodging trains that were parked, it was getting intense and my fingers were literally sweating.
The funny thing is how the game ends, you don't even expect it, one second you are at 22 and you think you are the goat of Steem Hop, next second you misjudge one log and you fall straight into the water and you are back to that blue screen with STEEM HOP written in big orange letters. That's exactly what happened at the end of this clip, I hit 22 and then I fell and it just cut back to the start. This game is so addictive because it looks childish with its low poly trees and rocks and that desert sand color everywhere, but it is actually a proper rage game. You keep telling yourself just one more try, just one more try, and before you know it you have done like 50 runs.
