One more idea I'd like to chip into this game. I've not played this game for a very long time, but from the little I've played so far, there's something I noticed that I think could make the game much more challenging and enjoyable.
Whenever you move around the map and cross through your own body, I noticed that nothing really happens. You don't bite yourself, you don't lose, and you can simply continue playing as if nothing happened. At first, I thought maybe I was doing something wrong, but after realizing that you could actually pass through your own body without any consequences, it made me think about the original Snake game we all grew up playing.
Back in the days when almost everyone had played the OG Snake game, the fun wasn't just about eating food and making the snake longer. The real challenge was eating as much as possible while carefully controlling your movement so you wouldn't eventually run into your own body. The longer your snake became, the harder it was to move around without accidentally biting yourself, and that was a huge part of what made chasing a high score so satisfying.
That's something I think could really benefit this game. Imagine if crossing through your own body actually made you lose or reset your progress. Suddenly, every movement would matter. You wouldn't just be focused on finding things to eat; you'd also have to think ahead, plan your movement, and make sure you don't trap yourself.
I've actually been avoiding coming into contact with my own body for a long time while playing, because I assumed it would have some kind of consequence. But when I eventually realized that I could make contact with my body without losing, it honestly made the game feel a little too easy for me.
I believe that one of the biggest things that keeps people playing games is the feeling that they can become better at something, even when the game is difficult. When there's a challenge that seems almost impossible at first, players naturally want to keep trying until they can finally master it. That's where the satisfaction comes from.
Adding a self biting feature could bring that kind of challenge into the game. Players would have to be much more careful with their movements, especially when their body becomes longer and takes up more space. It would make high scores feel more meaningful because reaching a huge score would require not only eating a lot but also playing carefully and almost perfectly.
Of course, I understand that this could make the game harder, and maybe that's not what everyone wants. But I think having it as a feature, or perhaps even as a separate difficulty mode, would be a great addition for players who want more of a challenge.
I've really enjoyed the little time I've spent with the game so far, and I'm only sharing this because I feel like small additions like this could make the experience even more fun and competitive.
