I’m still deep in this division 7 grind 😂 My main goal right now is to get to div 4. That’s where the real AI division starts and I actually want to see how I’ll cope there. So I hopped on today to play a few games and got matched with someone using BVB too. Dortmund vs Dortmund 😂 Mirror match. You already know how that goes — both of us have the same players, same meta cards, same runs. Nobody can catch the other one off guard. It just comes down to who’s more patient and who makes less mistakes.
First half was tough. I only managed to get one goal and it came from Lamine Yamal. I was trying to get more, I swear 😂 I kept pushing, trying different things. Cut inside, overlap, quick passes, but my opponent was just sitting back in a low block. Every time I thought I found space, another defender would just appear. It was frustrating because I felt like I was doing everything right but the chances weren’t coming. Still, I didn’t panic. I just kept the ball moving and waited. We went into halftime 1-0 up. Not what I wanted, but at least I had the lead.
Second half I came out with a different mindset. I told myself no forcing shots, just play proper football. About 5 minutes in I got the second goal. It was a nice team move — Kevin De Bruyne picked up the ball in midfield, played a perfect through ball, and Batistuta was there to finish it. That one felt good because it wasn’t luck, it was build up. After that I started feeling more comfortable. I was moving the ball better and the AI wasn’t pressing me as much. Then around the 79th minute I tried to be too clever 😂 I had Lamine Yamal on the edge of the box and I wanted to do that blitz curl. You know the one that bends into top corner. But my opponent read it and blocked it.
I was vexed for like 2 seconds like “damn I’ve wasted the chance” but then the ball just deflected straight to Mbappe on the left 😂 He was free, nobody near him, and he just tapped it into an empty net. I didn’t even plan that. Sometimes FIFA just blesses you like that. So that made it 3-0 and the game was done. Comfortable win in division 7. Still far from div 4 but I’ll take it. No rage quitting, no aram ball, just playing normal. If I keep this up I think I can actually climb. One game at a time.
