i was just posting on the parent post for this, i am sooooooo tempted to go off grid too... but just know that as soon as we did that a giant hail storm would come through and smash the solar or something. we get giant hail from time to time.

i would be worried if we went off grid, we would not get back "on grid" if needed. So annoying. paying that connection charge for peace of mind... grrrrr
