i heard him talking about this as well... suggesting that AI was going to take over many roles prividing a multitude of good and services... so we won't need to buy as much as prices would go down, and we would have DEFLATION... and a few other things... then universal standard income..... and i was rather confused by his whole plan..
It relies on the world that in part has mostly be taught to "accquire" things... to stop. that is not going to happen. certainly not in 5 years...
for there to be plentiful goods and services, we need to start with essentials. Food. water. shelter. at the moment we have a surge in AI factories producing more plastic to meet consumer demand. this would all need to reverse.
don't get me wrong, AI will change things (if it doesn make a robot army to take over the world) but the new normal won't switch to that overnight.
AI will NOT take all the jobs. it WILL take all the jobs that are basic, repetitive and easy for an AI to do. and in its place we will have a HUGE amount of NEW jobs. ones we have never heard of. Just like in 1997, when i was looking for a part time job. the idea of a "youtuber" and "influencer" a "app designer" or the wide range of IT specialists were not there.
anyway im not sure where we are going... but money is not going to dissapear like tath overnight and not take the world down in flames at the same time. (I guess its an option)
lets hope the world makes better choices than elon's friends.
