My 2 cents? TRUE paladins are wizard-knights who swear to be kind, help others no matter if they are light, dark, or neutral, and only fight those who are actual evil, not just called evil due to appearance.

I'm assuming that the knight-turned-wizard turns into a paladin with all their fighting prowess intact, but now gaining magic knowledge to better help those in need rather than blindly rushing forward to harm the innocent. Unlike so many that call themselves heros, but actually aren't.

But that's just my humble opinion.
