Welcome to week 3 of the Steemit Fantasy Hockey League (SFHL)!

For those of you that haven't been following our progress closely, this league is intended as a proof of concept for how the Steem block chain and Steemit posts can be used to fuel fantasy hockey leagues. To provide incentives for participation throughout the season, post rewards are added to the league prize pool, to be distributed at the end of the year.

Nobody has paid to join this league, yet all team managers will get something at the end of the year.

To date, the following prizes have been funded:

This is the first weekly interactive post previewing the upcoming matches.

Here at SFHL, we're huge fans of steemsports@steemsports, and the work they've done bringing risk-free sports betting to the platform. We've been inspired to model our weekly posts after their approach. By letting users pick the winners of fantasy league matches, we will be able to give weekly prizes to fantasy team managers while letting the end of year pool continue to grow. And also, we are giving an opportunity for outside observers to engage with the league and earn some Steem along the way!

We welcome the participation of the entire community.

How it works:

Upvote the main post, and one winner per match up.

To be an eligible voter, users must have a minimum reputation of 40 (league players are exempt from this requirement, as several are new users). Voting on more than one team in a single match will void all of your votes for the week.

Only votes cast before the start of the first game will be considered.

SP rewards from the main post will be added to the prize pool to furnish prizes at the end of the year.

Liquid Steem and SBD rewards will be split 50/50 between winning team managers and the voters who chose the correct team.

The liquid Steem rewards will be exchanged for SBD and held as SBD through the week until payout.

The week 2 contest came to an end on Sunday.

Please note that most of the text was submitted by heroic15397@heroic15397 after Saturday night's NHL games. I did not take the screenshots until today, which means there might be some disagreement between the text and the images. Just be aware that in those cases the images represent the final results, and the commentary was written before the final games of the week.

• Goalie Wins
• Goals Against Average (the only category where a low number is better)
• Save Percentage
• Number of Shutouts

shenanigator@shenanigator Vs. VamPardyLkeARockstar newerasparky@newerasparky

VamPardyLkeARockstar newerasparky@newerasparky is enjoying Sidney’s Crosby return to play this week but it’s not enough so far to put him in front of shenanigator@shenanigator. Exception made of Jonathan Quick who has been put on Injured Reserve on shenanigator@shenanigator’s side, it’s two healthy teams competing for who is going to cross the finish line with the most points in bank in the end.

bacchist@bacchist Vs. full-measure@full-measure

After a difficult draft, full-measure@full-measure’s continues on his winning trajectory with a second victorious week in sight. There should no doubt left in this league as to full-measure@full-measure’s capability to steer a questionable team toward one of quality. What better way to illustrate this complete reversal by dominating week 2’s overall matchup. To bacchist@bacchist’s credit each categories are very close and expect him to give him a ride for his money until the end of the week-end.

heroic15397@heroic15397 Vs. campbell69soup bryce-campbell@bryce-campbell

heroic15397@heroic15397 is back into praying mode not having found the winning formula yet. A near perfect week by campbell69soup bryce-campbell@bryce-campbell’s goaltenders makes the difference in is favour in this one. Reaching the bare minimum of 3 appearances in a week for goalies statistics to count, campbell69soup bryce-campbell@bryce-campbell’s is leading 3 out of 4 of the masked men categories.

bossrammers bossram@bossram Vs. Shane’s Team

Team bossrammers bossram@bossram doesn’t look like at all like it did last week when it ended up at the 12th and last rank. Shane’s Team who lead the first week matchup during the entire week and a half is now caught chasing his underdog adversary. With one day remaining Shane’s Team could get closer but a win in extremis is not expected.

arfon@arfon Vs. JL jl-r-h@jl-r-h

This dual between JL jl-r-h@jl-r-h, the league’s leader and arfon@arfon who won his week 1 matchup holds the closest point’s comparison of week 2. If things stay as they are, with arfon@arfon being ahead, we could have another number 1 team in the league when next week begins.

Dicks out 4 Harambe will-zewe@will-zewe Vs. Oilerado oilerado43@oilerado43

At the time of writing, this one is a draw. Oilerado oilerado43@oilerado43 leads in the attacking, while Dicks out 4 Harambe will-zewe@will-zewe has the best out of the defending aspect of the game. Depending on what happens during the rest of the week-end, one of these middle of the pack teams could shuffle the cards and make its way in the league’s top 3.
