Well I have gotten some DMs asking what am I upto and if everything is okay with me. The concern was I haven't been that active lately. Well it is a bit true and I am honestly touched when people check on me when they see something out of the ordinary. That is the power of the community! I am thankful to be a part of it. I have been in Houston most of the time, but to be honest I have been playing a bit of Pokemon Go lately.
For those who know me for a while now, they know that I am an avid Pokemon player, and I have played every main series games from the beginning till Sun & Moon, and also Pokemon Go. But notice I said Sun & Moon; that is 2 generations old now. I mostly stopped playing Pokemon Go also at the start of Covid or rather a couple of months earlier, in Jan 2020. At that time level cap was at 40 for a while and I lost the motivation. With Covid, the organizing large group of humans stopped. So stopped the raid trains and live tournaments. I was one of the admin of the Sliph Road discord server for city of Houston, and have done a lot of community server back in those days from 2016-2019.
My main draw for Pokemon Go started with my older daughter who started the Go series games on phone. I thought it will be a big bonding experience for us and I picked it up. I was very familiar with the main series games so the transition is obvious. Soon like any kids of her age she lost interest and moved on to other things. But I was stuck with it deeply from 2016 - late 2019. That is full 3 years and endless hours of walking, catching, raiding, organizing tournaments! But then it stopped with Covid.
Now my younger daughter is about that same age again, and Covid is over for a while, and I though I should give it a try with her. So I opened an account for my younger this time, and got my trainer shoes out again. Just in time for the global Go Fest in late August!
When I stopped playing it was Jan 2020, and I was at Level 40, as that was the cap. Yeah, feel free to comment about my avatar, I have heard it all :) When I started playing against few weeks back the first hit on the face was the Level Cap is increased to 50 and that too couple of years back! I suddenly feel like a noob again!
That is a good thing, because now I have things to do and boy, what a steep goal that is now!

If you look at this table above Level 1 to Level 40 required 20 Million XP (XP = experience points; are points that you gain as you do tasks in game). That was where the cap was back then. Now I look at the chart and had a small heart attack! L50 XP requirement is 176 Million XP! That is nearly 9X compared to previous level cap. Plus there are numerous secondary tasks that you must also do to level up. I won't go into the details but likely it will take me months if not years to get there, if I choose to, that is!
For those of you who complain grinding in Splinterlands, dude, you have NO IDEA! This is real world gridning at a different level.
Here is the funny thing! All my old buddies, who are still around, they are all Level 50. Boy that smirk on their faces, Oh Boy! The shame, the shame!!
Well its been less than 3 weeks, and I am 3 levels up (thanks to some saved up XP beyond the level cap), but still I have a long way to go and 125 M more XP to gain. I don't know if I can do this!
