Empty Fields

Here in southwestern Quebec, winter came blowing in early this year with 15 cm of snow. The question is whether the snow is here to stay, or if we'll see grass again before Christmas.

I got this photo from the top Mount Rigaud. Located in the Saint Lawrence lowlands, this part of Canada is remarkably flat, except for a few widely dispersed and abrupt hills. Mount Rigaud is one of these,

Between Waves

A telephoto lens offers great possibilities for narrowing in on an interesting topography, and capturing it in a tight composition. This was shot with the Pentax K-3 and a 50-135mm lens, at 135mm.

Here's a tower in downtown Toronto. I like the way the architect dealt with the wedge-shaped site, making a pointy corner, and then stepping back on upper levels.
