Estimation strategies: In the next few lessons we are going to have a look at the different estimation strategies (Rounding off strategies) The first 2 strategies we are going to work through is the

After the completion of grade 7 maths, we carry on to grade 8 work.  Learners will see that the work doesn't differ that much, only that the work gets more, and more difficult.   Image source

Division rules: Source Division rules are one of the most important mathematical principals learners should know. Teachers can teach their learners the rules of division: Divisible by 2 A number is divisible

Image source Mathematical symbols: Sum = +  + means add Difference  -  - means subtract Product = x  x means to multiply Quotient = ÷  ÷ means to divide Rules for rounding off

Probability: Image source Probability is a mathematical way of describing how likely something is to occur.  For instance what is the chance that the sun will shine tomorrow or what are the chances

Pie Charts An example of a pie chart A pie chart is a circle that is divided into slices.  These slices are called sectors.  The circle represents the whole data set and the sectors represents

Histograms Image source A new kind of graph that we introduce to grade 7 learners is the histogram.  Just like a bar graph, a histogram consists of bars..  The main difference between a bar graph

Image source For the next few lesson we are going to focus on how to represent data in different ways. Lesson 1 - Bar graphs and double bar graphs Lesson 2 - Histograms Lesson 3 - Pie charts Drawing bar

Summarizing data Image source Now that we know how to collect and organize data, we can move on to the lesson of summarizing data. We can summarize data, using the 3 measures of central tendency.

After the lesson of yesterday - Collecting data - we can now move on to organizing data. An example of a frequency table Organizing data The data that we collect is called the raw data.  This

Source We can classify numbers as follow: Natural numbers: Numbers from 1 until infinity Natural numbers are all positive numbers The set of natural numbers: Whole numbers: Numbers from 0 until infinity

Describing patterns Source Constant difference and constant ratios When given a number sequence, we can find the number pattern with a constant difference or a constant ratio. A number sequence with a

Building 3D models and Nets Source A net shows the minimum amount of material that you will need to build a 3D models.  Adding flaps to the net of your 3D object makes it easier to join the shape.

Prisms and pyramids Pyramids Other than a 3D prism which have 2 opposite equal faces, a pyramid has one base end and an apex.  A pyramid has sloping sides which meet at a point called the apex. The
