Today Steem reached 40.000 accounts. First congratulation.
More and more people are joining, but it is also more and more clear that most of them will never get anything from Steem.
If you look at the distribution picture from steemd 86.38 percent of all accounts hold less than 8 USD on value, if you add the "user" tier we have 93.46 percent of accounts who have zero influence. What i really want to know is how much on posts and comment this population contribute to Steem. Would be great if someone with more technical knowledge can pick up this question and look into the data.

Many will argue that this is great because we do not want to pay for "rubbish", but the question will be - is this enough to keep the people on Steem?
Advertised is Steem like the next reddit, but in fact for just sharing information you will get nothing. Only if you add something special it looks like the community think this is worth to upvote you. I think on reddit or youtube this would be ok, because the success of the successful is hidden. Here on Steem you see what all the people get. Sometimes you agree with people upvoting, but sometimes you disagree. I am really curious how this will play out on the long run.
I divide the people in 2 categories :
2.Passive consumer

Most of the people will fall in category 1.2 and the question is, is it ok for this community to ignore them or do we need to change some rules?
Maybe it will help if we have better tools to look quickly into accounts and decide if someone gets a upvote, because he is trying, but not helping at the moment. I think many people will not do what many people suggest, to keep going. This would be unnatural. If this would be true, everyone would be better.
