LOL, the Cha-Ka reference was spot on! Never seen the 1970's movie, but that Spider kid does looks just as awkward among all these Navii-peeps.
Husband and I watched it a few days ago. I have to say that it's a one-timer for me. It wasn't bad, but it was 300% predictable - repeating the exact same formula as #1 and #2.
I was also disappointed at how they chose to depict the 'Aiwa spirit world' - They could have made it into something psychedelic and hard-to-fathom, but instead, despite having access to the best CGI, they made it look physical - with trees, winds, same characters just traversing the environment the same way they do in the physical world... it felt rather lazy and lacking imagination (or lacking mushrooms).
Did you catch Sigourney Weaver's signature line: "Get away from her, Bitch" ? That made me chuckle - A bit of fan service, from another franchise. But overall I didn't like the "Chosen One" arc of her character... it was heavily formulaic.
So do you know if this is the last of the movies? Cause the ending felt somewhat conclusive... maybe they're going to start mixing Avatar vs Predator soon.
