How to use DecentMemes
What it is: A meme maker built into Hive frontends (currently PeakD) — pick a template, add your own text, and post it
straight into your Hive post/comment.
Making a meme
- Open the meme widget — it shows up right inside the PeakD post/comment editor.
- Browse or search templates in the filmstrip (try typing a word or phrase — it matches template names, tags, and
even text from popular memes made with that template).
- Click a template to load it, then add your text — click "+ add text" for extra lines, drag any text box to
reposition it, and pick a font per line.
- Animated (GIF) templates work the same way — just add text and it'll re-render as a GIF automatically.
- When you're happy, hit download or post — it inserts directly into your Hive post/snap.
Submitting your own template
- Go to decentmemes.com/submit.
- Drag in your image (JPEG, PNG, or GIF), pick at least 2 tags (there's an "+ other" option if the preset tags don't
fit).
- Sign in with Keychain to submit — most users get 1 free submission per day; extra submissions cost a small HIVE
burn.
- Your template goes into a moderation queue — once approved, anyone can use it, and you (as the creator) earn a
share of the rewards when others use your template.
Rewards & profile
- If your template gets used in posts/snaps, you earn a cut of the post rewards automatically (no extra steps needed).
- Check your stats — templates submitted, total uses, lifetime earnings — at decentmemes.com/u/yourusername.
- There's also a public leaderboard at decentmemes.com/leaderboard.
